At the end of a long day when I’m hungry, but don’t want to cook dinner and I don’t have enough cash on me to enjoy a sit-down restaurant meal, I go to one of my favorite fast food restaurants. I’m not sure how restaurants can afford to sell their burgers and sandwiches for only a dollar, but I’m glad that they do.
My favorite dollar menu is at Wendy’s. I love their crispy chicken sandwiches. Add a little honey mustard and these babies are the bomb! I also love the fact that these sandwiches always taste fresh and the chicken is steamy hot. They also have a five piece chicken nuggets for a buck. These are good too, but not as irresistible as the chicken sandwich. If I’m not in the mood for chicken, they also have several burger options on their dollar menu.
My second favorite dollar menu is at McDonald’s. I usually get either the McChicken sandwich or the Double Cheeseburger. I’m not as fond of the McChicken sandwich as I am the Wendy’s chicken sandwich because the McDonald’s sandwich seems to be made from a lower quality chicken. It just doesn’t taste the same and it never seems to be quite as fresh. The double cheeseburger is okay, but it’s a little too greasy for my taste.
My local Arby’s still offers the Arby Jr. at only 99 cents, but it just doesn’t seem as filling as the chicken sandwiches or burgers on the other restaurant dollar menus. However, it is nice when I’m looking for something on the lighter side.
My local Hardee’s offers very inexpensive burgers, but the last time I checked, there weren’t any for a dollar. I don’t mind paying a little bit more than a buck if the burger tastes good, but unfortunately, the Hardee’s burgers are also a little on the greasy side.
Burger King has a great selection on their dollar menu. I love the Whopper Jr. In fact, it is my favorite burger. It’s not too big, not too small, not too greasy, and I get to order it any way I like. Burger King also offers chicken nuggets on their dollar menu that taste pretty good as well. These are great if you have young children. Kids like finger foods.
Krystal still offers burgers for less than a buck, but my stomach feels like I’ve eaten bricks after eating a couple of these little “gut bombs”. They seem to be really popular with my co-workers, but I think I’d rather go hungry.
